Accessibility in the Kavi Application Suite

Kavi began addressing accessibility issues in our applications in 2002 when we created an event registration website for the National Industries for the Blind (NIB). In our efforts to provide the best experience possible to NIB, we conducted research on accessibility and ran our application pages through all the testing tools available at that time. In addition, the NIB administrators provided extensive feedback about what it takes to make a form work well for screen readers. At the launch, NIB declared it the "best form we've ever seen!" Kavi provided event registration software for NIB for the next several years, during which time we continued to incorporate our learnings from this customer into the rest of our applications.

In 2005, all Kavi applications were updated and tested against the WCAG 1.0 and Section 508 validators. Today, accessible software design is a core component of the value we provide to our customers, as a fundamental aspect of interoperability that furthers all standards development efforts. Kavi is committed to developing online applications which meet accessibility standards for people with disabilities and in doing so we employ many different techniques that minimize or remove barriers that might inhibit user access to our application suite. We also strive to help customers ensure that their branded website templates in which our applications are presented adhere to the same high accessibility standards.

The Kavi Accessibility Guidelines incorporate information on the practical application of accessibility principles from the leading accessibility authorities and from our experience in directly serving NIB. These guidelines are available on the Kavi Community website at:
